Fa Quida (Goddess of Steatite) - 2005
This is a found piece of steatite on the ground on a friend’s property that has three quarry holes on it that you can dive into from 35 feet. You can—I passed and hunted rocks while he dived in.
This was a pure, hard piece of soapstone that required carbide chisels; a very fine dense grain that finished out Fa Quida’s face with the smoothness of baby skin on a rock. Pedestal base of mahogany and cherry—44” tall.
