RA, Title IX or Ball Girl-2016
I have quite a few walnut and cherry 10 foot slab boards that run 3-4” thick and 10-12” wide. The challenge is what to do with them sculpturally—the limitation of material comes into play in reduction sculpting.
This is the first of the Tall Girls. It is a beautiful board of very dark black walnut. I suspect the design evolved out of my enjoyment of watching women’s basketball. She stands tall on a small steatite base, has a glass eye, and her back attaches to a wall with 4-inch hand forged swivel hardware by Peter O’Shaughnessy.
