Rachel - 2015

This is the third head out of the Florida hurricane pecan (see The Dowager) which is the family tree. Again, this chunk was highly spalted coming from lower in the trunk of the tree. Someone declared it looked like Rachel Maddow—hair-on-fire maybe, but the name stuck. The base and pedestal pieces are steatite (soapstone) and black walnut.
