Lady DufferHead of Bath - 2007
This is the second of five pecan chunks from the trunk of a large pecan tree that tumped over during a Florida hurricane. The first is DufferHead which was highly spalted from near the base. Lady DufferHead is from high on the trunk and not spalted, but she has a fine and delicate grain that is pleasing. The neck is from the same tree salvaged from the firewood pile and put permanently into service of the Lady. Her hair was textured with a nine-point stone hammer. The pedestal base is two pieces of steatite and a salvaged oak railroad tie that escaped creosoting—the sculpture is 66” tall.
