The Holy Split - 2005
This was a gnarly, hard stick of kiln dried mesquite from the mill at Bastrop, Texas that was deformly split at the top and somewhat atrophied. It sits on a fine sixty-five pound steatite rock that has a double vein of quartz running through it. The subbase is poplar and cast concrete, and it is 75” tall.
For some reason the head-piece hole and split remind me of my early catholic education. The piece is subjectively representative of my holey split from the dogma of that authority.
