Sherri In Cherry-2016

This is a big chunk of cherry from Amherst County over the Blue Ridge that I put up to dry fifteen years ago. It’s lovely piece of wood, and was quite cooperative. The five-piece base is of two walnut struts sandwiched between steatite top and floor base. This piece is 74” tall, and I really like it.

Sherri used to be the first name of my first wife. She changed all her names. The sculpture vaguely reminds me of her—could be the eyes; could be her serene complexity.
